The Council of the EU decided today that checks at the land Schengen borders of Bulgaria and Romania will be abolished from January 1 next year. This was announced by the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Earlier this year, checks at the air and sea Schengen borders of the two countries were abolished in a decision taken during the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU on December 30 last year.
This is a great victory for Bulgaria, Romania and the whole of Europe, commented the Hungarian Presidency.
