During a press conference in Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the importance of Europe's united voice regarding the war in Ukraine, quoted by BTA.

According to him, only through unity and close coordination with the US can Russian President Vladimir Putin be stopped.

Zelensky expressed hope that the newly elected US President, Donald Trump, will side with Ukraine and share their goals. He stressed that he believes in the danger of Putin's actions and needs strong political leadership and assistance from the United States.

Peace for Ukraine and the need for security guarantees

The President of Ukraine clearly stated that European security guarantees are not enough. According to him, the country needs serious and lasting guarantees that would prevent the conflict from freezing. Zelensky insisted on a solution that would lead to peace, but at the same time ensure the safety and future of Ukraine.

The Hungarian Prime Minister and the proposed peace initiatives

Zelensky also commented on the initiative of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who proposed a ceasefire during Christmas. The Ukrainian president said that Orban had no mandate to organize negotiations and stressed that any initiatives that affect the lives of Ukrainians should not be discussed in the media.

Russian gas and the possibility of transportation

Zelensky mentioned the possibility of Ukraine continuing to transport Russian gas, provided that an agreement is reached that would ensure payments to Russia after the end of the war. He explained that this proposal is aimed at depriving Russia of financial resources received at the expense of the suffering of the Ukrainian people.
