The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that there is no signed Istanbul Agreement between Ukraine and Russia. The comment was made during a press conference in Brussels, after a meeting of the European Council, in response to the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin, BTA reports.
Putin on the ultimatum and the unimplemented Istanbul Agreement
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the preliminary agreement reached between negotiators from both sides in Istanbul at the beginning of the war could serve as a basis for future negotiations. This agreement was not implemented and was never put into practice.
Zelensky clarifies Ukraine's position
Zelensky again stressed that Ukraine did not agree to the conditions set by Russia and that no such agreement had been signed. "Ukraine has not signed anything, no agreement exists", he said, adding that the response to the ultimatum was given by the Ukrainian side, and not on the basis of agreements.
