The Israeli army said it failed to intercept a rocket fired from Yemen this morning that landed in the Tel Aviv and Jaffa areas, slightly injuring 14 people, according to medical services, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Paramedics are treating 14 people with minor shrapnel wounds, some of whom have been taken to hospital, the emergency medical service said in a statement.

Israeli police said they had received reports of a rocket landing in the Tel Aviv area.

The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have repeatedly fired drones and missiles at Israel in a show of solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.

On Thursday, Israel carried out airstrikes on ports and energy infrastructure in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and threatened more attacks against the group, Reuters recalls.
