Witnesses to the attack in Magdeburg, Germany, filmed the arrest of the man who drove into people at the city's Christmas market, bTV reported.
The footage was provided to the German public television MDR. The detainee is a 50-year-old doctor from Saudi Arabia. He has lived in Germany since 2006 and has a permanent residence permit in the country. It is believed that he acted alone, and no other people are currently being sought.
At least two people died in the attack - a child and an adult - and dozens were injured. So far, 68 people are known to have been injured. According to information from “Bild“ 15 of the injured are in serious condition.
The car - a BMW SUV - drove at least 400 meters through the Christmas market after the man drove through security barriers. Footage has also emerged of the moment it plowed into people. The attack comes eight years after a similar incident at a Christmas market in Berlin, when a Tunisian migrant killed 12 people.
