The death toll from a serious road accident in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais is at least 32, the local fire department reported, quoted by BTA.
"Between 32 and 35 people have lost their lives, but it is currently impossible to give an exact number of victims due to the condition of the bodies," said a fire department representative, who expects a "final" number after the investigative authorities finish their work on the spot.
It was earlier reported that a bus and a truck collided on a highway in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The bus was carrying 45 passengers and was traveling from Sao Paulo. It was also reported earlier that 13 people were taken to the hospital.
Authorities said the bus had a flat tire, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the truck. A car carrying three passengers also collided with the bus, but all three survived, the Associated Press reported.
