Three explosions on the starboard side occurred on the Russian ship "Ursa Major", which sank in the Mediterranean Sea yesterday. A hole measuring 50 by 50 centimeters was discovered, the press service of the ship's owner "Oboronlogistics" told RIA Novosti.

„During the external emergency inspection of the vessel, a hole above the waterline (approximately 15-30 centimeters from the water) measuring about 50 cm by 50 cm was discovered, the edges of the hole were directed inward. The ship was covered with shrapnel," the agency was told.

"Ursa Major" is a cargo ship built in 2009. It sails under the Russian flag from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok.

The cargo ship sank in the Mediterranean Sea, and according to the owners, the cause of the incident was a terrorist attack.

Rescuers managed to save 14 crew members and transfer them to the port of Cartagena.

Two people are still missing. The ship sank 67 miles from the Spanish and 45 from the Algerian coast.

The owner of the "Ursa Major" claims that this is one of the largest cargo ships in Russia, with a maximum carrying capacity of 9.5 thousand tons. The weight of the cargo is 806 tons.
