Russian plane with 236 passengers makes emergency landing in Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh

A Ural Airlines Airbus A321 passenger plane has made an emergency landing at the airport in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation announced.

“A Russian plane has landed safely at Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport after being asked to return due to a sudden technical failure“, the agency reported on its Facebook page. It also explained that the reason for the plane's return to the airport was an engine failure.

The plane was flying from Sharm el-Sheikh to Yekaterinburg. There were 236 passengers on board. According to preliminary information, no injuries were reported.

Egyptian authorities said a malfunction had been detected and that necessary repairs were being carried out.
