Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia this night injured several people in the Tambov region and led to the temporary closure of airports, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported 85 destroyed drones, 31 of which - over the Black Sea.
Two of the drones were shot down over the Tambov region.
In the small town of Kotovsk in the western Russian region, two apartment blocks were damaged. Several people were injured by broken glass, Governor Yevgeny Pervishov announced early this morning.
He specified that the buildings suffered minor damage and no fires broke out.
Three people were injured in the attack, and four had high blood pressure, Pervishov later reported.
A resident of the Kursk region told TASS about injured people, set houses on fire and hit cars in the Russian border region, part of which is occupied by the Ukrainian armed forces.
According to a report from the Russian Defense Ministry, a Ukrainian drone was shot down over the Kursk region overnight.
Airports in Kazan and Nizhnekamsk, the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as in Ulyanovsk, the administrative center of the Russian region of the same name, were temporarily closed, but have now resumed operations.
In the meantime, flights to and from Saratov airport suspended.
The three subjects of the Russian Federation where airports were closed are part of the Volga Federal District.
The governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, announced today that the fire at an unspecified "industrial facility" in the city of Engels, caused by a Ukrainian drone attack three days ago, is now under control.
The burning area has shrunk by 80 percent, and the amount of smoke has also decreased significantly.
Two firefighters died fighting the flames at an oil base in Engels, which serves an airport where strategic bombers are based, on Wednesday.
The city is located about 600 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of the neighboring country nearly three years ago. Since 2023, Ukraine has relied heavily on drones in its fight against Russian forces, as they are relatively easy and quick to produce and can be used by soldiers without risking their lives, DPA notes.
