Denmark recognizes US security interests in the Arctic region and is ready to discuss them with the new administration of President-elect Donald Trump, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said, quoted by "Reuters" and BTA.
“We agree that the Americans have legitimate concerns about security in the Arctic. We share these concerns, and therefore we are ready, with the participation of Greenland, to continue negotiations to secure the legitimate interests of the US in the region“, Rasmussen stressed.
The statement comes at a time of heightened geopolitical interest in the Arctic, where strategic resources and climate change are making the region a key point for international relations and security.
