German Defense Minister Makes Unannounced Visit to Kiev: Support for Ukraine Continues - 1

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has arrived in Kiev for a meeting with the Ukrainian government, DPA reported. The visit, which was not announced in advance for security reasons, is intended to demonstrate Germany's solidarity with Ukraine and to discuss options for additional assistance, quoted by BTA.

“With this trip, I want to show that we continue to actively support Ukraine,“ Pistorius said upon his arrival in the Ukrainian capital. He stressed that Germany, as the leading NATO country on the European continent, remains a reliable partner for Kiev.

The visit comes at a delicate moment, less than a week before Donald Trump's return as US president, which could lead to a reduction in US military aid to Ukraine. This strengthens the role of European allies, including Germany, in ensuring sustainable financing and support for Ukraine's defense needs.

Just a day earlier, Pistorius participated in a meeting in Warsaw with ministers from Poland, France, Italy and the United Kingdom, where European aid to Kiev was discussed. The German minister stressed that Berlin is ready to take the lead in efforts to strengthen the Ukrainian arms industry.

“Ukraine will equip its troops most quickly if it has sufficient funds and capacity to produce weapons,“ Pistorius pointed out.

Germany and the four main European partners plan to work together to provide Kiev with the necessary resources and technologies.
