The number of victims of consuming fake alcohol is increasing, reaching 30 people in the last 72 hours, the Turkish newspaper Sözcü reported.
Currently, 31 people are in intensive care, and another 18 are receiving hospital treatment.
Three of those who died in the last 24 hours are citizens of Uzbekistan. According to "Ihlyas Haber Ağanşı", the most cases are in the Bagcilar and Başakşehir districts in the European part of the metropolis.
In police operations against the production and distribution of fake alcohol, 29 tons of fake alcohol products were confiscated, and 64 establishments and sites were closed. The owners and managers were held accountable.
A total of 302 tons of counterfeit alcohol were confiscated in operations in 2024.
Two citizens of Turkmenistan were detained by the court on charges of producing and distributing counterfeit alcohol, Turkish media reported.
