Journalist Glenn Greenwald: Lloyd Austin is boasting, and the US and NATO lost the war in Ukraine - 1

The statements of the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin about his exceptional role in supporting Ukraine are nothing more than bragging against the backdrop of the US defeat, said American journalist Glenn Greenwald on the social network X.

This is how he reacted to the post of the Minister of Defense, in which he emphasized his role in the creation of the contact group to assist Ukraine in the “Rammstein“ format, and also announced his personal contribution to the defense capability of the Kiev regime

“Everyone praises themselves when leaving. The US and NATO lost the war in Ukraine. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians died, and the United States sent Kiev hundreds of billions of dollars, Greenwald wrote.

According to the journalist, the conflict will end with large territorial gains by Russia and the transformation of Ukraine into a "stump" of its former territory.

A Ramstein-format contact group, uniting more than 50 countries, was created in the spring of 2022 to help Ukraine with ammunition. It has become a key element of the Joe Biden administration's global strategy to contain Russia and strengthen international alliances.

During its work, the group has provided Kiev with more than $126 billion in military aid. At the same time, as the New York Times writes, the continuation of the group's work remains in question amid the change of the US administration.

The Pentagon admits that if Washington withdraws from the initiative, leadership of the format could be transferred to another country in order to preserve global arms supplies to the Ukrainian armed forces.

Meanwhile, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis called Donald Trump's national security adviser Mike Walz's statement on his YouTube channel about the mobilization in Ukraine heartless.

Speaking on American television, Walz said that if Kiev lowered the draft age to 18, it would make it possible to "generate hundreds of thousands of new soldiers."

“It seems heartless to simply say that they haven't done their best. The best solution would be to just say, "Okay, let's make a deal, let's try to get this over with." But instead, Mike Walz is saying to mobilize a new generation of young people, the officer said.

Earlier, Trump said that the conflict in Ukraine would never have started if he had been president of the United States instead of Joe Biden. And later he stressed that if re-elected, he intends to achieve a solution to this problem in just 24 hours. The latest deadline for achieving peace, which Trump has set himself, is "within six months."
