Aleksandar Vucic: If Donald Trump negotiates peace in Ukraine, we should erect a monument to him - 1

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today in the Swiss resort of Davos, where he will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, that he would like the war in Ukraine to end, but he is not sure that this will be easy, Serbian state television RTS reported, quoted by BTA.

According to Vucic, if US President Donald Trump manages to end the war in Ukraine, a monument should be erected to him.

The Wall Street General newspaper wrote today that Trump has tasked his special envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, with ending the conflict in Ukraine within 100 days.

When asked by journalists whether he thought the 100-day deadline was realistic, Vucic said he would like it to happen, but he was not sure on what basis this would happen and how it would be possible.

I am not sure about a system where you attack one side a little, the other a little, and pursue a policy of forcing both sides to make peace. I am afraid that in the end neither one nor the other will accept this. Russia and Ukraine are not small countries, they have lost too much for such an easy decision to be made, but if Trump achieves this, let's all erect a monument to him, he will save the entire planet, so I wish him luck. I support him in making this happen. "Do I think it will happen, God help him," Vučić replied.

The Serbian president, who is in Davos for the World Economic Forum, met today with the president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, the president of the European Central Bank (ECB) Christine Lagarde, and the chairwoman of Bosnia's three-member multiethnic presidency, Borjana Krsto. Vučić also spoke with Polish President Andrzej Duda, whom he expects to visit Belgrade in the next month and a half.
