Ukraine is negotiating with its allies to send foreign troops to the country, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic, Georgy Tykhy, reported Reuters.
He noted that the deployment of a foreign contingent would be only part of the security guarantees. Tykhyi specified that the discussion of this issue is still “at the earliest stage“, so it is “early to talk about exact figures“.
He stressed that Ukraine needs reliable and long-term security guarantees, which will include both Europe and the United States.
“This is the only way to ensure that this peace will be sustainable and lasting“, he said.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that if they do not accept the country into NATO, but introduce foreign troops on its territory, then Europe should take over the maintenance of the Ukrainian army.
