French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu denied that there is any evidence that Russia plans to attack the European Union in the short term.
In an interview with the LCI television channel, however, he noted that there is a possibility of “being defeated without being attacked“.
The head of the French military department recalled the cutting of cables in the Baltic Sea.
“There is a gray area in which we are neither in a state of total war nor in a state of total peace“, he said.
Lorneux expressed the opinion that Georgia and Moldova could “become targets of destabilization in the short or medium term“.
“We must be vigilant. These are vulnerable countries where there is a lot of Russian interference," he explained.
Earlier, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, said that European intelligence services had reported on Russia's plans to attack the European Union in 2028. According to her, Russia "could test the EU's defense capabilities in three to five years."
