Russia started the war to seize Ukraine's resources - 1

Russia started the biggest war in Europe since World War II to seize Ukraine's resources. This opinion was expressed by the diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina (2010-2017) Oleksandr Levchenko to FREEDOM.

He believes that it is impossible to quickly resolve the issue of ending the Russian war against Ukraine – as promised by the new US President Donald Trump.

„This is the biggest war since World War II, it was unleashed by a country that decided to seize foreign territory. And solving this problem is not so easy, because it attacks in order to seize foreign territories, or rather resources. Ukraine's natural resources are comparable to the natural resources of all of Australia, which is much larger than Ukraine, or all of Canada, which is a member of the G-7. Putin started the war to steal foreign natural resources, everything else is a cover“, the diplomat said.

Levchenko is convinced that US President Donald Trump, as a businessman, understands the value of resources and how important it is to protect fundamental issues so that they are not violated in the future in relation to all other countries in the world.

“Of course, this cannot be resolved quickly. We need to take a closer look, take diplomatic and political goals and hold talks“, the Ukrainian diplomat said. According to him, the role of China is very important. Levchenko stressed that diplomatic battles will be fought alongside the frontline fighting.

US President Donald Trump said that the United States would be forced to impose high tariffs and sanctions on Russian goods if the aggressor country does not stop the war against Ukraine. The Kremlin, for its part, said it was open to dialogue with the new US president. However, according to various diplomatic sources, Trump's threats have not impressed Putin, who has no intention of stopping the war unless he first secures Ukraine's surrender.
