The European Union is "not negotiating" on Greenland. This was stated by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, quoted by "Reuters".
Her statement was in response to US President Donald Trump's claims that the United States should control Greenland for security reasons.
"We are not negotiating on Greenland. Of course, we support our member state Denmark and its autonomous region of Greenland, but we should not get into speculation about "what if", because that is not the situation at the moment," Kallas pointed out after a meeting of EU foreign ministers.
Both Greenland and Denmark have publicly stated that the Arctic island is not for sale. Greenland Prime Minister Mute Egede said that people should decide their own future.
