Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that he discussed the threats, challenges and the state of the Serbian army with senior officials of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, BTA reported.
In a post on Instagram yesterday, he wrote that the meeting discussed the capabilities, results of the modernization, equipment and training of the military and future steps in the development and strengthening of the defense capabilities of the armed forces.
“We discussed current threats and challenges to security at the global level, and I stressed the importance of international cooperation and participation in peacekeeping missions, which contributes to strengthening our capacity and reputation“, the statement said publication.
Vučić stressed that the military is the pillar of Serbia's security and the army will continue to modernize and develop with investments in equipment and personnel, “because strong Serbian armed forces mean a peaceful and secure future“.
A press release from the Minister of Defense yesterday, quoted by the website of the regional television “En1“, said that the meeting at the House of the Guards in Belgrade was attended by the outgoing Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, the Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić and the Chief of Staff General Milan Mojsilović. The statement added that reports were heard on the state of the army, its operational and functional capabilities in 2024.
“The conclusion of the annual analysis was that the Serbian Armed Forces have the ability to carry out all their missions, protect the security and territorial integrity of Serbia and be a factor of peace and stability in the country and the region“, the statement said.
