North Korean troops stationed in the Russian Kursk region do not appear to have been involved in combat operations since mid-January, the AFP agency reports, citing South Korean intelligence data, News.bg reports.
According to the information, the North Korean troops were withdrawn from the front line after heavy losses that occurred during the fighting.
Although the sources of the "New York Times" newspaper, citing American and Ukrainian sources, mention that the North Korean military has not been seen on the front line for about two weeks, they admit that the decision to withdraw them may be temporary.
The decision of the North Korean command to withdraw the troops may be related to the need to reassess strategies or to human losses are reduced, given the dire situation on the battlefield in the region.
