US President Donald Trump may agree to hand over the port of Odessa to Russia. This is reported in The New York Times, citing associates of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Kiev fears that Trump may decide to satisfy a number of Putin's desires during the telephone conversation that the two leaders are expected to hold later today.
Putin wants to maintain control not only over the already occupied territories, but also over new ones, including one of the most important cities for Ukraine - Odessa. The Russian occupiers failed to capture the port city during the full-scale war that has been going on for over 3 years, but that does not mean they have given up on their dream.
Russian officials have repeatedly said in recent years that Odessa is a Russian city.
US President Donald Trump said last night that many elements of the final agreement on Ukraine have been agreed upon, but much work remains. “I look forward to speaking with President Putin,“ Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.
