The Romanian presidential administration declassified data on the expenses for special flights abroad of delegations led by President Klaus Iohannis in the period 2015-2025, TASS reported, BTA reports.

According to the document provided to the Agerpres news agency, 193 flights in both directions cost the state treasury over 113 million lei (22.6 million euros).

The published data caused a sharp reaction among Romanian politicians. Critics include presidential candidates in the upcoming May elections, George Simion, Elena Lasconi and Nikusor Dan, who described the amounts as excessive.

Romania's interim president, Ilie Bolhozhan, said on Friday that he would reveal all data on the work of the presidential administration, including for previous years. The statement was in response to numerous requests from journalists for transparency about the expenses of former President Klaus Iohannis on renting private luxury planes for visits abroad. Many of these visits, presented as diplomatic successes, were perceived in the country as tourist trips, TASS notes.
