British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his Dutch counterpart Dick Schoff have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fight against illegal migration and discussed support for Ukraine, PA Media and DPA report, quoted by BTA.
Starmer received Schoff last night at 10 Downing Street, where the two leaders stressed the strong ties between the UK and the Netherlands and their shared commitment to global challenges.
They discussed the successes of existing cooperation in the fight against organized crime, including with the smuggling networks that organize illegal crossings. As a result of the conversation, an agreement was reached to strengthen cooperation on this issue.
Starmer confirmed Britain's unwavering support for Ukraine, with the two leaders expressing their readiness to work together to provide Kiev with the "best possible position".
In addition, the British Prime Minister announced his intention to create thousands of highly skilled jobs through planning reforms that will facilitate the construction of new nuclear reactors. In this regard, Starmer and Schoff agreed to develop a new agreement on sustainable energy, including nuclear, stressing the importance of energy security.
Dick Schoff took office as Prime Minister of the Netherlands on July 2, 2024, just three days before Keir Starmer took office in the UK, PA Media and DPA note.
