Pentagon: Under Trump, the scope of bombing against Yemen's Houthis is expanding - 1

The Pentagon announced that the new military campaign against the Iranian-backed Yemeni Shiite Houthi rebels is significantly different from the strategies used during the administration of the previous US president, Joe Biden, BTA reports.

According to reports from Reuters, the new approach includes a wider range of targets, including strikes against senior representatives of the movement and key sites such as training camps and drone experts.

Lieutenant General Alex Grinkevich, head of the "Operations" department at the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, specified that more than 30 sites were attacked in the first wave of strikes within the framework of the current campaign in Yemen. These included strategic sites such as training camps and sites linked to the Houthi drone development.

The general added that dozens of Houthi members were killed in these attacks. Unlike the previous Biden administration, which did not strike senior members of the rebel movement, the new US operations are focusing on these important targets.

Yesterday, the Houthi Ministry of Health reported at least 53 deaths as a result of US airstrikes in Yemen. According to the ministry, five children and two women were among the victims, and 98 people were injured. The data could not be independently verified, Reuters notes.
