Alaska authorities are searching for a Bering Air passenger plane that disappeared during a flight from Unalakleet to Nome, Reuters reports, reports News.bg.
The plane, a small turboprop Cessna Caravan, disappeared from radar 38 minutes after takeoff. There were nine passengers and one pilot on board.
Alaska has a high number of aviation accidents compared to other US states, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. Severe weather conditions, mountainous terrain and a lack of road infrastructure in many areas make small planes a primary means of transporting people and goods.
