A coin treasure discovered in a well in the northwestern Romanian county of Salaj in 1978, consisting of 30 silver kreuzers - a widely distributed coin in the territory of present-day Romania in the 18th and 19th centuries, was accidentally discovered by a museum curator from Salaj in an art shop in Bucharest 40 years later, the ag reported. Agerpres, quoted by BTA.

Five years after the return of the treasure, the whole story is recalled for Agerpres by the main character in this story - museum curator Emanuel Pripon from the County Museum of History and Art in Zalău.

According to him, the person who kept the treasure before it was given for consignment was Gheorghe Buzdugan, Secretary General of the Romanian Numismatic Society from 1953 to 1980. Among other things, he is also the author of the Romanian catalog of coins and banknotes, which is still valid today, more than 45 years after its printing.

In fact, Buzdugan died shortly after acquiring the treasure, which is why the coins ended up in the art shop in Bucharest through his heirs.

Knowing the historical value of the coins, the curator from Zalău took the necessary steps the next morning to ensure that the treasure would reach the Museum of History and Art of Zalău County.

Emanoil Pripon emphasizes that the treasure consists of coins referring to the period from the mid-18th to the mid-19th century, circulating throughout Romania, although they were issued by the Habsburg Empire.
