Hundreds of supporters of the party of the former Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti gathered at "Skenderbeg" Square in the center of Pristina to celebrate the almost processed preliminary results of the parliamentary vote count in Kosovo, BTA reported.
According to new data from the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo, the "Self-Determination" Movement is leading with 41.99%, writes the Albanian edition of Radio Free Europe. These are not the full preliminary results.
Kurti was at the square on Sunday evening together with ministers from his previous government – Xhelal Sveclja (Minister of Interior), Albulena Haxhiu (Minister of Justice), Donika Garvala (Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora) and others.
The former Prime Minister of Kosovo stated that his party "Self-Determination" Movement and its partners GUDZO (DARE) and "Alternative" were the winners, and the election process was democratic. GUDZO and "Alternative" appeared in the parliamentary vote with joint candidate lists with "Self-Determination".
Kurti said that during his next mandate he would focus on the judicial system and the vetting process in it, on the return of property seized by the state and its provision to the people and children of Kosovo.
"We must ensure that our country progresses in every aspect: economy, healthcare, education, culture", Kurti also said.
The CEC is expected to announce the preliminary results of the vote soon. Its online platform has been down for over three hours, the Koha Ditore newspaper reported.
The preliminary results do not include "conditional" voting, votes from people with special needs and votes from outside Kosovo.
The official results and the distribution of mandates by party will become clear in the coming days, after votes from abroad are counted. The last batch of ballots from voters outside the country will arrive in Kosovo today.
