Russia will succeed in defending peace based on the legal results of World War II, despite the efforts of ill-wishers and the revival of neocolonialism. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a video congratulation on the occasion of Diplomatic Worker's Day, published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“Today, when Russia is once again facing fateful challenges, the primary task and sacred duty is to defend peace based on the legal results of World War II“, said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry. He expressed confidence that "this noble goal will be achieved, despite all the efforts of our ill-wishers and open enemies, who have relied on the gross falsification of historical facts, the revival of Nazism and militarism, the limitation of international dialogue and cooperation to suppress Russia and other competitors in the interests of forceful domination and neo-colonialism."

"We will continue to do everything in our power and as much as necessary to protect national interests in the context of foreign policy support for a special military operation and the creation of safe, maximally favorable conditions for the development of the country and the improvement of the well-being of our citizens," Lavrov noted. He stressed that the Russian Federation will "expand multilateral cooperation with all reasonable partners and, above all, with the majority of the world - the countries of the near abroad, Greater Eurasia, Africa and Latin America".

According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russia will contribute to "strengthening the foundations of multipolarity, creating an architecture of Eurasian security, establishing mechanisms for international cooperation that are not subject to the destructive influence of the Western minority".

Lavrov pointed out that 2025 is a special year, as it "passes under the sign of the 80th anniversary of the Victory". in the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War. “We pay special tribute and gratitude to the immortal feat of the employees of the People's Commissariat of Foreign Affairs, who in the difficult war years stood up to defend the Motherland with weapons in hand. We remember the diplomats, our senior comrades, who brought Victory closer on the foreign policy front“, the Minister added.

The head of the Foreign Ministry noted the “invaluable contribution to the formation of the anti-Hitler coalition“ and to the achievement of “fundamental agreements in the post-war world order, the most important of which were the decisions to establish the UN and adopt its Charter“.

According to Lavrov, the principles and goals of the UN in their entirety and interconnectedness remain relevant to this day.

“In many ways, thanks to the decisive role of the leadership and diplomatic service of our country, the Yalta-Potsdam system of international relations has so far guaranteed global peace and security on the planet for eight decades“, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

Lavrov thanked the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs "for their conscientious service, dedication and careful approach to the assigned tasks" and called on "MFA youth" to accept "all the best from the veterans", not to stop "not even for a second in their development" and to remain faithful to "our country and the people of Russia". Solving the strategic tasks facing the Russian Federation requires diplomats to "mobilize forces, continuously move forward, develop professionally, and maintain psychological stability," Lavrov concluded.
