Democrats in the US have launched a new platform for reporting reports that will focus on actions by the administration of Donald Trump and Elon Musk that may violate the law. The platform's goal is to collect and investigate cases related to alleged irregularities, including actions by Musk, a Trump ally, BTA reports.
“Whistleblowers who file complaints on this platform will play an invaluable role in holding those who undermine democracy accountable,“ Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Gary Peters said in a joint statement.
The statement said that in just the first three weeks of Trump's administration, he has shown “a flagrant disregard for the rule of law and cruelty to American citizens“.
Elon Musk, who was appointed by Trump to head the Office of Government Efficiency, has sparked a major public backlash with his methods, which have been described as brutal. For example, he dismantled the United States Agency for International Development and gained access to confidential data from several departments, which angered Democrats and led to serious lawsuits.
Democrats emphasize that the Trump administration has harmed programs that are vital to American families, veterans, students and the elderly. Musk's critics express concerns about potential conflicts of interest, recalling that his companies “Tesla“, “X“ and “SpaceX“ have signed significant contracts with the federal government, including the Pentagon.
