An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 on the Richter scale has been registered in Croatia, according to data from the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), dariknews.bg reported.
The earthquake was registered 123 km northwest of Split, 17 km northwest of Posedarje /pictured/, at a depth of 13 km.
The earthquake was also felt strongly in the Italian city of Trieste on the Adriatic coast, the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology reported.
The depth of the epicenter was 10 kilometers. The tremor was felt as far away as the other side of the Adriatic Sea, in the Italian region of Marche.
The quake was initially rated at magnitude 5.1 by Italian seismologists, but they later downgraded it to 4.9.
