Kiev is working on an exchange of prisoners of war with Russia in the format of “all for all“. This was stated in an interview with the Ukrinform agency by the head of the secretariat of the Coordination Headquarters of Ukraine for the treatment of prisoners of war, Bogdan Okhrimenko.
“We are constantly promoting the possibility of an “all for all“ exchange. If agreements are reached to exchange all the people held by us, we will hand them over to the Russian side. And accordingly, the Russian side will return everyone“, he commented on the situation with the prisoners in connection with possible ceasefire negotiations.
This does not only apply to prisoners of war. Okhrimenko stressed that the potential agreement also applies to civilians.
In early February, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, expressed hope regarding the Russian-Ukrainian exchange of prisoners of war that they would be carried out more frequently in 2025.
