The Israeli army said it had struck illegal crossing points on the Syrian-Lebanese border used by the Iranian-backed movement “Hezbollah“ to smuggle weapons into Lebanon, DPA reported.
"These smuggling attempts are a gross violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon," the Israel Defense Forces said, referring to the current ceasefire.
They said they would continue to act to eliminate any threat to Israel and would take action to prevent any attempt by the terrorist organization “Hezbollah“ to rebuild its forces.
Lebanese security sources said the strikes targeted an area in the town of Qusayyah in the Bekaa Valley, in eastern Lebanon.
Syrian activists and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which has been monitoring violence in Syria since 2011, confirmed the strikes.
Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes targeting checkpoints in the Qalamoun region, in the Qusayyah al-Bekaa Valley and Assal al-Ward on the Lebanese-Syrian border, the monitoring group said.
