Ukraine and the United States are working productively on an economic agreement that is at the heart of efforts to end Russia's war in the country, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
The agency notes that Zelensky said this today in Kiev during a videoconference address to the leaders of the G7 countries, including US President Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian president reiterated to the G7 leaders that both Europe and Ukraine must participate in the peace process.
Zelensky participated in the G7 videoconference meeting together with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is visiting Kiev today and whose country is the rotating chairman of the Group of Seven this year, explains ANSA, which is part of the news platform “European Newsroom“. The videoconference meeting was also attended by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, who is also in Kiev.
After the end of the meeting, in “Ex“ Zelensky described it as a very important signal in support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. He said that the meeting was productive and that principled words were heard from the majority of Ukraine's partners.
Zelensky also said that during the videoconference meeting, the need for security guarantees for Ukraine and specific ways to ensure the end of Russian aggression and prevent new such aggression were discussed. He added that he relies heavily on the unity of the world in support of Ukraine – the unity of Europe, of America, of all parts of the world and of all countries that want to live in peace and on the basis of predictable rules and international law.
In addition to US President Donald Trump, the meeting via videoconference from the Oval Office of the White House was attended by his visiting French President Emmanuel Macron. The leaders of Great Britain, Germany and Italy also participated in the meeting via videoconference.

"I'm in Washington to remind President Donald Trump of this and to make progress with him and our allies," he added.
After the G7 videoconference, US President Donald Trump said on his social network “Truth Social” that everyone who participated in this forum expressed support for the goal of ending Russia's war in Ukraine, Reuters reported.
