The UN General Assembly today adopted a resolution reaffirming its support for Ukraine and its territorial integrity, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.
The resolution was adopted on the occasion of the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of the country.
The text, prepared by Ukraine and its European allies, received 93 votes "for", 18 votes "against" and 65 votes "abstain".
The US was among the countries that voted "against" this resolution proposed by Ukraine.
A competing draft resolution prepared by the United States, which initially called for a quick end to the conflict without mentioning the territorial integrity of Ukraine, was largely changed by several proposals submitted by European countries, so that it spoke of territorial integrity and called for the achievement of a just peace, notes Agence France-Presse.
The text thus amended was also adopted by 93 votes “in favor“, but with 8 votes “against“ and 73 votes “abstain“. The United States supported this document.
