Great Britain does not rule out Russia's return to the G7, and this will be the subject of discussion with London's allies, the country's Deputy Home Secretary for Security Affairs Dan Jarvis told Times Radio.
“This will be the subject of discussion with international allies. This issue will undoubtedly be considered when the conflict in Ukraine is over“, he said.
According to the Deputy Home Secretary, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer may raise the issue of Russia's return to the "Big Seven" in the upcoming negotiations with US leader Donald Trump.
As Bloomberg reported earlier, Trump said he would like to return Russia to the G-7. Commenting on this information, the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted that the "Big Seven" has lost its relevance, the centers of growth have moved to other parts of the globe, and Moscow is interested in developing relations with the G-20.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the G-7 has turned from an association for coordinating positions on global challenges into a body for coordinating measures to put pressure on hostile countries. She added that today's "G-7" is an outdated format that has completely lost its authority and tarnished its reputation.
