The administration of US President Donald Trump has instructed the State Department and the Treasury Department to prepare a list of sanctions that could be eased during negotiations with Moscow, Reuters reported, citing its sources.
“The agencies are currently developing a proposal to lift restrictions on certain companies and individuals, including some Russian oligarchs“, the article says.
As noted in the publication, Washington is considering the possibility of partially lifting sanctions restrictions as part of broader diplomatic efforts to establish relations with Russia and find ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier, Treasury Secretary Scott Besant admitted the possibility of economic concessions to Moscow depending on the progress of the negotiations. President Trump also said on February 26 that sanctions could be eased at some point.
