The US is considering the possibility of lifting sanctions on the "Nord Stream 2" gas pipeline, writes Politico, citing its sources.
According to the publication, the White House "is discussing" the possibility of lifting sanctions on the Russian gas pipeline, "as well as, possibly, other Russian assets in Europe".
Politico emphasizes that the lifting of sanctions on "Nord Stream 2" would mean a "dramatic shift" in US policy and would be "a major concession" by the administration of US President Donald Trump, recalling that sanctions against companies involved in the construction of the gas pipeline were imposed during his first presidential term (2017-2021).
