The White House confirmed the suspension of military aid to Ukraine, Reuters reported.
„The president has made it clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are suspending and reviewing our assistance to help resolve the Ukraine crisis,” a White House official said.
"The American people are tired of spending money on Ukraine's defense needs and funding its conflict with Russia," White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said.
„President Trump wants President Zelensky to be grateful to the United States and the American taxpayers who have provided for his country's national security and defense needs. The United States and the American people are tired of funding this war. President Trump wants a deal. Unfortunately, it seems that President Zelensky still doesn’t want that,” she said on Fox Business.
Levitt added that on February 28, Zelensky was minutes away from concluding a mineral deal that would have saved Ukraine’s economy, but in his dispute with Trump, he “put the cart before the horse and bit the hand that feeds him.”
Volodymyr Zelensky is not interested in resolving the conflict in Ukraine; he expects that the ongoing military action will allow him to remain in power. This opinion was expressed by investor David Sachs, appointed by US President Donald Trump to be responsible for AI and cryptocurrency policy.
“Zelensky has a strong motivation not to make peace. I don’t think he wants peace. He says the war should go on forever. I think he has his reasons for that. If the war ends, he will be out of power and vulnerable to retaliation from his political opponents. First of all, if he is out of power, his own security will be at risk,“ he said on Fox News.
The second reason Zelensky does not want the conflict to end is the financial flow that the Ukrainian elite is spending on its own needs, Sachs believes. “We have allocated hundreds of billions of dollars to Ukraine and the Ukrainian elites, the Ukrainian oligarchs, have been feasting on this money. At the top of this pyramid is Zelensky. If the war ends, then all these scams will end,“ he noted.
