The Verkhovna Rada welcomes US President Donald Trump's peace initiatives to resolve the conflict after his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House last week.

A statement was published on the Rada's website.

“The Ukrainian people believe that the role of President Donald Trump and his peacekeeping efforts can be decisive for the speedy resolution of the conflict and the achievement of peace“, the Rada's address to Trump, the US Congress and the American people says.

The Verkhovna Rada stressed the need to further develop partnership with the United States, especially in the field of mineral resources.

Meanwhile, opposition deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Dubinsky sent an address to the Speaker of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk, in which he demanded to initiate impeachment proceedings against Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The reason for this was his diplomatic failure in the White House, as a result of which Ukraine lost the unconditional support of the United States. This failure is the result of incompetent governance of the country, destructive foreign policy, repression of the opposition and usurpation of power. I insist on immediately convening an extraordinary session of parliament to consider the issue of creating a special investigative commission, as well as launching a petition to collect the necessary 220 signatures of deputies,“ he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The politician stressed that the leadership of the Rada will most likely ignore the appeal and will not put it to a vote due to fears of the collapse of the ruling coalition. “If anyone thinks that this crisis can be swept under the carpet, they are deeply mistaken. Zelensky's impeachment is a requirement of the time, he must go", Dubinsky summarized.

Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Ukraine's Ambassador to London Valery Zaluzhny as permanent representative to the International Maritime Organization. This is clear from a decree published on the website of Zelensky's office.

It is noted that Zaluzhny will combine the duties of ambassador and permanent representative.

On February 8, 2024, Zelensky dismissed Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, citing stagnation on the front. Zaluzhny had held this post since July 27, 2021. On the same day, Zelensky appointed Oleksandr Syrsky as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On March 7, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced that Zelensky had approved the candidacy of Valery Zaluzhny for the post of ambassador to the United Kingdom.
