The Moldovan edition Newsmaker reported that at the traditional music festival „Martisor“ in Moldova, musicians from Israel, who sang the wartime song „Katyusha“, had to apologize for allegedly offending the audience.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova called it a disgrace that in Moldova, artists now have to apologize for performing the song „Katyusha“.
„The Moldovan music festival „Martisor“ has been held since 1966, when Maya Sandu herself /b.r. the President of Moldova/ was not even designed. And never knew such a disgrace, that the songs that became a symbol of the fight against Nazism were banned“, Zakharova noted in her Telegram channel.
She noted that the Moldovan government lives on the principle of “forward to the past“. “And this is its darkest past: the time of occupation by the Romanians and the governorship of Transnistria“, the official representative of the Russian diplomatic department pointed out.
“I want to say to those who ban Katyusha: people were dying with this song, fighting for life and freedom from the brown plague. Including for the life and freedom of those who apologize today, and those who ask for an apology,“ the diplomat emphasized.
