Russia's air defenses shot down 18 drones overnight, Ukrainian strikes kill 11 Russian civilians in a week - 1

11 civilians have died and 55, including 2 children, have been injured over the past week as a result of shelling of a number of regions of the Russian Federation by the armed forces of Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Most of the casualties are in the so-called DPR, Belgorod and Kherson regions.

Last night, Russia's air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 18 Ukrainian drones over various regions of the Russian Federation, the Defense Ministry reported.

Russian authorities have extinguished a fire at an oil pipeline in the southern Rostov region caused by a Ukrainian drone attack, Yuri Slyusar, the acting governor, said today, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Apart from the fire, the nighttime drone attacks on industrial facilities did not cause any other damage, Slyusar said, without specifying which oil pipeline was hit.

“Fortunately, no one was injured,“ he said on the Telegram app.

Earlier, he reported that workers had been evacuated from various facilities in the area located directly next to the border with Ukraine, while Russian air defenses repelled a drone attack near Novoshakhtinsk, where a refinery had already been shut down due to previous similar attacks.

The Ukrainian military said the refinery was back on fire.

Reuters could not independently confirm the reports from either side.

Ukraine says its strikes on Russian territory are targeting infrastructure that is key to Moscow's military operations, in response to Russian bombing of Ukrainian territory.
