The head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk plans to invest $100 million in a third-party political organization controlled by US President Donald Trump, the New York Times writes, citing its sources.

According to their data, Musk and Trump's partners have talked in recent days about a planned donation by the businessman to a group controlled by the American leader.

The newspaper writes that Musk will be the first White House employee to make such a large political contribution to the US president's foreign organization.

According to the publication, it is currently unknown whether Musk has fulfilled his investment plans.

The businessman and the White House did not comment for the newspaper.

Meanwhile, the British newspaper The Guardian wrote, quoted by NOVA, that employees of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have begun a large-scale destruction of classified documents with shredders and the use of “burn bags“ at its headquarters.

An email sent by acting USAID Secretary Erica I. Carr, who instructed employees on procedures for destroying “classified personal documents marked “Secret“.

“First, destroy as many documents as possible, and save the incinerator bags for when the shredder is unavailable or needs a break,“ Carr wrote in the letter, which includes detailed instructions on how to properly seal and label the incinerator bags.

The timing of this document destruction comes amid ongoing controversy over what essentially amounts to the closure of USAID following the Donald Trump administration's attempts to reshape the independent agency through Trump's DOGE

USAID is among the government agencies most affected by DOGE
