The special envoy of the US President, Stephen Witkoff, is in Moscow and informs the White House about the progress of negotiations with Russian officials so that the US leader, Donald Trump, can assess them and decide on further actions.
This was announced by the US National Security Advisor, Mike Walz, in an interview with Fox News.
“I spoke with my colleague, the special envoy, Witkoff. He is there and is transmitting information so that we can assess it and President Trump can decide on the next steps“, he said.
On Thursday, the special envoy of the US leader, Stephen Witkoff, who participated in the negotiations with the Russian delegation in Riyadh on February 18, arrived in Moscow. Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president who was part of the group, said that the planned March 13 meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Witkoff would take place "when there is readiness."
The administration of US leader Donald Trump does not support the idea of deploying nuclear weapons in Eastern Europe. This was stated by US Vice President Jay D. Vance in an interview with Fox News.
"I have not discussed this with the president, but I would be shocked if he supported deploying nuclear weapons further east in Europe. We are talking about the future of human civilization," Vance said.
He criticized the approach of the previous US administration.
"Biden sleepily led us to a nuclear conflict," Vance said. "We need cooler heads to prevail, including on Russia and Ukraine. The Biden administration's strategy was to literally throw weapons at the Ukrainians and let them bleed with the Russians. Let's hope that somehow an agreement will emerge from nowhere," he said.
“Donald Trump is engaged in tough diplomacy, engaging his entire administration to understand what the Ukrainians want, what the Russians want. The war is stupid, it would never have happened if he were president, and it is in no one's interest to continue it,” the vice president added.
On March 13, Polish President Andrzej Duda, in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times, called on the United States to deploy nuclear weapons in Poland. He discussed this issue with the US President's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg. According to Duda, Trump could move nuclear weapons from Western Europe or the United States to Poland.
