Ukrainian General Staff confirms troop withdrawal from Sudzha in Kursk region - 1

The Ukrainian General Staff has shown a map confirming the withdrawal of its troops from the town of Sudzha in Russia's Kursk region, DPA reports, BTA reports.

A comparison of the graphic published with today's report with the map published the previous day shows that Ukrainian troops are withdrawing towards the Ukrainian border.

The report only states that 20 clashes took place in Kursk region yesterday. Russia has carried out 19 air strikes, dropped 28 bombs and fired 232 artillery shells.

The information provided by the warring parties cannot be independently verified, DPA notes.

On Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian forces had retaken the city, which had been occupied by Ukrainian troops for more than seven months. In August, Ukraine brought the war to Russian territory in a surprise offensive and occupied parts of the Kursk region.

Sudzha is considered Ukraine's most important conquest in Russia.

Ukraine, supported by the West, has been defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion for more than three years, DPA recalls.
