BBC: Ukrainians leave Kursk region like in a horror movie - 1

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine compared their retreat from the Kursk region to scenes from horror films, the BBC reported.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that they withdrew under heavy fire and constant drone attacks, the media outlet notes.

On March 16, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of the liberated Novaya Sorochyna, Staraya Sorochyna and Malaya Loknya, which shows that during the retreat the Ukrainian military did not take the bodies of their fallen comrades. At an operational meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council, Russian President Vladimir Putin guaranteed the Ukrainian fighters in the Kursk region "life and dignified treatment" if they lay down their arms and surrender. However, for this to happen, the military-political leadership in Kiev must give the appropriate order, the Russian leader pointed out.

The massive attack of the Ukrainian armed forces against the Kursk region began on August 6, 2024. According to the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, more than 86% of the territory occupied by the Ukrainian armed forces has already been liberated. On certain sections of the border, the Russian armed forces have entered the Ukrainian Sumy region. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of hostilities in the Kursk direction, their enemy has lost more than 67 thousand servicemen.

Almost the entire territory of the Kursk region has been liberated, the deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces and commander of the "Akhmat" special forces unit said in an interview with TASS. of the Russian Ministry of Defense Lieutenant General Apti Alaudinov.

“We can now confirm the fact that almost the entire territory of the Kursk region has been liberated“, he stressed.

The commander of "Akhmat" noted that the offensive of the Russian troops is yielding serious results: almost all settlements have been captured at once and a large number of enemy personnel have been destroyed.
