Vance, Vatican Secretary of State Discuss Conflict Resolution - 1

US Vice President J.D. Vance and Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin discussed the Washington administration's plans for conflict resolution and the issue of persecuted Christians, according to a statement released by the White House press service.

According to the document, Vance and Parolin discussed “Catholicism in the United States, the plight of persecuted Christian communities around the world, and President Donald Trump's commitment to restoring peace in the world“ at the meeting in the Vatican.

As previously reported by the press service of the Holy See, Vance and Parolin, as well as the Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, discussed issues of the international agenda, as well as topics of mutual interest. It was noted that they “exchanged views on the international situation, especially in countries affected by war, tension and experiencing difficult political and humanitarian situations“.

Vance is a Catholic. In February, he said that the foreign policy of the Trump administration is aimed at ending conflicts and protecting the rights of Christians around the world.
