Ukraine bans Romanian MEP Diana Soshoaca from entering the country - 1

The Security Service of Ukraine has banned Romanian MEP and leader of the sovereigntist party “SOS Romania“ Diana Soshoaca from entering the territory of Ukraine for a period of three years, the Security Service informed in a statement published on the institution's website, the Romanian news site Hotnews reported.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Bucharest reacted sharply yesterday to a letter from Diana Soshoaca to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which the MEP claims that Romania should regain the territories that are under Ukrainian control as a result of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact of 1939. The Ukrainian embassy condemned "categorically" these claims, emphasizing that any statement that questions the territorial integrity of Ukraine is unacceptable and contradicts international norms, the UN Charter and basic democratic values.

In the letter to Putin, Soshoaca calls on the Russian president to take into account the return of "Romanian territories illegally held by Ukraine through the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact" in the peace talks.

The Romanian MEP reacted last night with a Facebook post to the ban imposed on her access to Ukrainian territory, „Hotnews“ also reports.

„I had a ban before. Considering that the state of Ukraine does not exist, that it is an artificial state, whose illegal and unconstitutional power discriminates against Romanians from Northern Bukovina, Budzhak, Hotin, etc....I ignore and don't give a damn about their ban“, wrote Diana Shoshoaca on Facebook last night.

In capital letters, she continued her post as follows: “I will enter anywhere, at any time, in any way on our Romanian land in Northern Bukovina. Northern Bukovina is Romania!“. Shoshoaca also wrote that “those who present themselves as a Ukrainian state have shown today that they are neo-fascists and criminals“. “Down with Zelensky! Long live free Bukovina, united with the motherland Romania“, writes Diana Soshoaca on Facebook.

The Romanian MEP also wrote on the social network that she had been informed of a serious and immediate threat to her life. “The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has shown that it is dealing directly with me. The SBU is this lowly service that organizes murders abroad“, the leader of the Romanian nationalist party claims in her publication.

Diana Soshoaca filed a candidacy to participate in the presidential elections in Romania in May, but the Central Electoral Bureau rejected her candidacy on the grounds that she did not meet the necessary requirements. Soshoaca was also not allowed to participate in last year's presidential elections, which were subsequently annulled.

The Constitutional Court of Romania confirmed the decision of the Central Electoral Bureau yesterday.
