Yemeni Houthis from the "Ansar Allah" rebel movement launched a missile strike on an Israeli military site near Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. This was stated by the representative of the armed forces formed by the rebels, Yahya Sariya.
„Yemeni missile forces carried out an operation during which they hit a military site in the area of „Ben Gurion“ Airport in the occupied Jaffa area (Tel Aviv) using a ballistic missile “Zulfiqar“, a representative of the movement said on the air of the Houthi-owned TV channel “Al Masira“.
Earlier on Friday, the Israeli army announced that it had intercepted a missile fired from Yemen. Air raid sirens sounded in various parts of Israel, including Tel Aviv. There were no reports of any consequences from the attack.
After the conflict in Gaza escalated in 2023, the Houthis warned that they would shell Israeli territory and prevent ships affiliated with them from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The attacks stopped after a ceasefire was declared in the Palestinian enclave in mid-January this year, but after the ceasefire collapsed in early March, the rebels announced that they had resumed attacks on Israeli ships in the Red Sea and then began trying to attack targets in the Jewish state with missiles again.
On March 15, the United States, on the orders of President Donald Trump, began carrying out massive strikes against Houthi targets, who control about a third of Yemen. The operation is aimed at protecting American interests and ensuring freedom of navigation, the US Central Command said. In response, the Ansar Allah movement carried out a series of attacks on the US aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman in the northern Red Sea, using missiles and drones. There is no information about damage to the ship as a result of the strikes.
