The US and Russian presidents, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, spoke by phone, the White House announced, quoted by the Associated Press, reports BTA.
The conversation began at 4 p.m. Bulgarian time and continues.
It takes place against the backdrop of US efforts to convince Russia to agree to a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine, the AP notes.
"President Trump is currently in the Oval Office (in the White House) and has been talking with Russian President Vladimir Putin since 10:00 a.m. Eastern American time (16:00 Bulgarian time). "The conversation is going well and is still ongoing," White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino wrote on the social platform "Ex".
Ten minutes before the start of his conversation with Trump, Putin finished his participation in a meeting with the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Russia, TASS reports.
