UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is deeply saddened and shocked by the death of an organization employee in a strike on UN buildings in Gaza, and calls for a full investigation, one of his spokesmen said, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.

“The location of all UN buildings is known to all parties to the conflict, who are obliged under international law to protect them and ensure their inviolability“, said spokesman Farhan Haq, adding that five other UN employees were injured after two buildings housing UN personnel in Deir al-Balah were hit by Israeli fire.

The UN employee killed today in Gaza, working for the UN system, is a Bulgarian citizen, according to a statement received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Foreign Ministry (MFA) preliminary information, the ministry announced on its website.

The Civil Defense Service in the Gaza Strip said that at least 436 people had been killed in Israeli strikes on the Palestinian territory since they were renewed on Monday evening, Agence France-Presse reported.

“The Civil Defense has transported the bodies of at least 436 people killed since the occupation resumed aggression and war“, Mahmoud Bassal, a spokesman for the organization, told AFP.

Zaher al-Wahidi, head of the information department at the Health Ministry of the “Hamas“ government in the Gaza Strip, confirmed the figures to AFP.
